DESCRIPTION
Maria Murphy is a contemporary figurative Artist from Ireland working and living in Stockholm. A wide range of imagery is used in her work from everyday life, historical artifacts, idealised images of social media and her own street photography. Expressive brushstrokes and colourful pallets are used to invoke sensation and atmosphere. Colour acts as a fundamental element that adds satirical commentary to her work. Maria's collection of artworks are based on drawings found on ancient Greek and Roman vases. Each character has a personality and a story to tell. Her artworks is characterized by being playful, colourful, expressive and satirical.
